James "Burkie" Jennings - Vice Chairman

James "Burkie" Jennings is a lifelong resident of Alexander County and currently lives in the Wittenburg Community. He has one daughter, Dr. Jessica P. Jennings.
Burkie is a veteran of the United States Navy and a BellSouth Management retiree with over 28 years of service as a Technical Systems Designer, Project Manager, Branch Sales Manager, Territory Sales Manager, and Regional Sales Coach. He also taught Social Studies at Taylorsville High School.
He graduated from Taylorsville High School as well as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He also obtained an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Caldwell Community College.
Burkie has been a member of Taylorsville Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and is a former elder. He is active in the Alexander Historic Committee and is the former Board of Elections chairman.
On November 2, 2010, Burkie was elected to serve a 4-year term on the Alexander County Board of Commissioners.
