Provides comprehensive child’s well visit to income eligible children, infancy to 18 years of age,
by offering physical examination, laboratory testing, vision and hearing testing, developmental
testing and immunizations.

A case management program for high risk children, birth to three years old, that provides developmental screening, immunizations, appropriate medical referrals, comprehensive family assessments, and educational services. The overall goal of this program is early identification of medical and developmental problems so that the appropriate referrals and early interventions can be initiated and these children will attain their optimal level of development. This program also identifies social, economic and environmental needs of the family and assists the family in locating the resources to meet these needs.
The Alexander County Health Department follows the recommended guidelines for immunizations that the ACIP (Advisory Committee of Immunization Practices) and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the NC Immunization Laws & Rules.
Cost: Routine childhood vaccinations are paid for by federal and state funds if certain criteria is met. This is to encourage parents to protect their children against vaccine-preventable diseases
